rail stationWellington - (updated 4/22/2001)  Wellington in the late 70s were  Cable Car at the Kilburn;  tulips at the Botanical Garden,  gusty wind howling through  window sill;  'ugly' unfinished B.N. Z building, pedestrians at the Cuba Mall, pigeons (droppings) near public toilets at Lampton Quey, windings Plimmer-steps to the Terrace, butchers shops / fruit stalls at Lambton Quey and double Decker - red electric bus,  giant pillars at the Railway stations, fireworks at Oriental Bays, enjoying sun on Museum entrance ( my school Wellington High was just nearby), Saturn rising against the Mount Victoria sky line; drawing lines on parked cars on early morning frost  on way to school, battering cold winter rain and the climbed the 'slope'  late Friday shopping..
Twenty years later I revisited this place and here are some pics of it. Could not recognized my high school, the fruit stalls/butcher shops were gone, fast food - the Big M were everywhere,  milkman still do their rounds but in the evening, my old dwelling place in Mt Victoria still stand.  one nearby dairy shop owner claimed she knew me..,  i could not find the cable car entrance, the wind is still there, there are no more Radio Windy 98...

The Railway Station - where many of us boarded the train to factories in the Lower Hutt Valley during our Summer Vacation.

Wellington High School - archive foto

They torn down the old Wellington High School - I took a pic of the familiar building from a display on the hall.  I remembered the high ceiling and indoor assembly hall, lockers on the corridors..

Hey - these are my fellow Wellington High  'schoolmates'. On a larger foto you can see the pierced tongue... Oh my god - things DO change after these years. Where is the deep green uniform?
