2001 Leonids -  Hi-8 Digital video through a  analog Flyvideo 98  PCI - card ( Bt878-chip set)  frame grabber ( US $30) stacked with  SP program.
Since the frame rate is 25 f per sec you can estimate  the meteor's duration  by counting the number of breaks in the trail.  For example the giant fire- ball below lasted only 16/25 or 0.64 sec

(Top Left) Showing background star without any meteors. Note  Jupiter in Gem ( Castor/Pollux)-  Saturn paired up with Aldebaran,  Capella and its nearby triangular group of dim star, lone procyon and Sirius.
(Top Right) :  A 'Whopper' - Leonid fire ball ending near Orion's sword.
(Bottom Left) : At least 7 Leonids left streaks in this composite images.
(Bottom Right) : Star Map showing the general orientation and visible star.
