Veni, Vidi, Vici*--Julius Caesar

The  HSBC TTW ( tree-top walk) at Mc Ritchie " I came, I saw and I conquered* " (twice to be exact in the same week!).  Traffic is one-way only at 30 people max allowed at a time. Do not expect to touch the canopy.  Most of the tree tops are below the bridge's height.  You will be surprised that the ' stepping' actions can cause the suspended bridge to sway from side to side.  Look out for the rattan on your left towards the other end of the bridge.

While 'combing' the secondary forest floor for interesting objects - a ' thud' sound distracted my attention.  Just a foot away from the boardwalk, I noticed this freshly fallen shutter-cock-like seed.  I was surprised at the rather green/fresh leaf-wing instead of the typical textbook depiction of  dried up bi-wings. The five loped calyx revealed the well concealed single nut.

Fresh fallen "2-Winged"  Seed of Dipterocarpus grandiflorus

Freshly fallen "2-Winged"  Seed  ~ 10 1/2 inch.  Have a peep at the enclosed seed here

On the way back  I paused often to watch out for interesting  plant  forms and found these...

-----Crabs' claw?  [ Berries ~  1/2 cm in diameter]

-------"I Pray "

-----Under attack!  The young one.

-----'Berries' Up! - while others tucked the berries under the leaves this one decided to turn them skyward.  -----" Chambers"  - a interconnecting chamber(s) of some sort?

----'Ears-like' young shoots. ---Macaranga triloba -where ants live within its hollow twigs protecting the host against caterpillars. ------Close to the TTW entrance (near the protected Area)  noticed this bunches of seeds  ---- New  'kid'  on the block "  One day I will touch the sky." breadfruit or tarap?
