The tree was unattractive  ( near  Yio Chu Kang MRT)......
 But  the new 'dashes' of orange-red among the branches caught my attention in Apr/May.   One Sunday afternoon I decided to have a closer look and found  clusters of orange/red  flowers. The rather large fruits looked like inflated  groundnuts! ( one visible @ upper left edge below)  

Castanospermum australe 

I picked up a few 'fallen' flowers and brought home for a closer look.  I searched through all books on Singapore Road site plants but could not ID it.  Can you?   Ans : 26/06/03  Castanospermum australe or Moreton Bay Chestnut (thanks Anggie)
